“The land is still ours, because we have sought the Lord our God; we have sought Him and He has given us rest on every side. So they built and prospered.” 2 Chronicles 14:7b
This verse jumped off the page when reading 2 Chronicles. Asa, King of Judah, was reclaiming the land his ancestor, David, was given by God. He looked around and declared what belonged to the Lord, though his father and grandfather brought idol worship and rebellion against God into the land.
These words are a strong declaration. Asa declared it, believed it, then acted on it in faith.
can must happen in our lives, brothers and sisters in Christ.
If you’re discouraged this morning because of hopelessness–a broken marriage, a hurting child, a disillusioned faith or church, a job loss, grief, or a messed-up family life, and you don’t know where to start, it’s this simple:
If you’re a child of God because you’ve accepted Him as your Savior, then your life, your family, and your days on this earth belong to Him. Declare what He has given you, and build.
- Build a better today than yesterday.
- Build a better attitude that is hopeful rather than defeating.
- Build better health by eating better food.
- Build a better relationship by answering with a different response.
- Build a better future by committing your finances and work to the Lord.
- Build a better faith by reading His word, then believing God will do what He says.
- Build a better home, by forgiving, rather than holding onto hurt and pain.
- Build a better Church by walking in Truth rather than shrinking behind complacency.
Whatever your situation, declare what belongs to the Lord.
Does this really work?
A few years ago when my family was falling apart, we declared we belonged to the Lord. We gathered together, kids and all, held hands and prayed. Out loud, many times. We declared God’s word over our family and proclaimed in His Name that the enemy did not have a hold on our family, even though it felt like it. We prayed blessing upon our position we have as His children. We declared who we were in Him, and that our home was not a place the enemy could reside.
Then, we walked in faith the many ways mentioned above.
Slowly, we saw the Lord rebuild our family.
I’ve also witnessed this in another family. When people around them told them to give up, to bail out, and that there was no redeeming hope, the Lord called them to believe restoration was possible. Many of us gathered in prayer with them, not giving up that God had a better plan.
Prayer, faith, action, and then repeat.
I’m witnessing God rebuild their family.
Where do you need this encouragement in your life today? Declare the land that is the Lord’s. Then build in His power, faithfully walking it out, allowing Him prosper for His glory.
How can I encourage and pray for you today?
