In between calf shows at fair on Monday,
I spent my day on the phone with Delta Airlines.
At 11:00 pm Sunday night in Detroit,
Senorita Mtn. Dweller’s luggage
did not arrive with her
because she was supposed
to arrive in South Bend.
Sunday night, Detroit Delta said
it would arrive
Monday in South Bend.
Monday morning I called,
1-800-Delta said
it was shipped to Detroit,
but they would send it
on flight 007
to South Bend
arriving at 3:00 pm
1-800-Delta said
You can track it online.
So, I tracked it online.
At 3:30, Online Delta reported
it was still in Detroit.
Ring, Ring, 1-880-Delta
3:45 1-800-Delta said
they would “message”
South Bend and Detroit to check on it
and they would CALL me.
Tick, Tock.
By 4:00, I thought,
I’m just gonna call
574-Local-South-Bend-Airport.
So I did.
574-Local-Airport answered
and transferred me to
a Real Person
in baggage at Delta.
Real Person said,
“I have Yoder’s luggage right here.”
Hot Dog!
Real dog and I
were on our way to pick up.
But wait, it gets better.
I walked into Local-Airport,
walked towards the Delta Counter.
A Woman in Orange Vest approached me.
Can I help you? she said
Yes.
Are you looking for baggage? she said.
Yes
Are you Yoder? she said.
Yes.
I have your baggage right here.
She opened a store room and there it was.
In 5 minutes,
I had Guatemala in a rolling suitcase
and was walking out the door.
Thank you, thank you,
I said to Tanya,
of whom was the Real Person
who answered my call,
and detected me as the
really-tired-mom-who-will-do-anything-for-my-children-on-few-hours-of-sleep-and-will-cry-at-the-drop-of-a-hat-if-you-are-a-divine-appointment-from-God.
I teared up as I said thank you,
Wanting to burst out in
“Praise God from Whom All Blessings Flow”
Right there in the airport.
But instead,
I said,
“Thank you,
you were an answer to prayer.”
Everything in me wanted to shout from the rooftops
God is so good!
He is real!
I love Him!
So I’m doing that here.
Sometimes, His realness
is most powerful
in the smallest moments.
That was my small moment this week.
I’m challenged to overlook luck,
and acknowledge His hand
where it deserves to be acknowledged!
Where have you seen God’s hand
in the small moments in your life lately?
Shout it hear, so we can celebrate with you!
Janette, what a blessing it is to see the Lord use our children in these situations! I can only imagine what a great, godly man the Lord is forming your son into! Praise God
Oh I celebrate with you also…when our son, at age 17, went to Africa he came home with damaged luggage…yes the things he had bought were broken, the time difference made it even more difficult and of course a month away from home. So I totally understand and yes, God is in all those details….He knows! Glad she is home and safe and with her luggage….now you get to enjoy what the Lord did in and through her!
