School is starting! Every year August marks the end of summer and beginning of another school year for kids, parents, grandparents, churches, and everyone who’s invested in a child.
I’m sharing some important resources I’ve put together over the years for parents and those who love kids.
The first is the Importance of Believing in Your Child, an article I posted on my coaching website. The basic principle:
You build your child’s confidence by following one principle:
What you believe about your kids is what they believe about themselves.
Another powerful tool is prayer. A message on prayer at the beginning of the school year can be watched here. Another resource for prayer is Pray A to Z by Amelia Rhodes. There’s an important chapter on prayer for kids in Fledge: Launching Your Kids Without Losing Your Mind.
Middle School Kids
If you have middle schoolers, their world is tough, no question. Raising them is even tougher. Here’s an article I published on raising middle schoolers a few years ago.
High Schoolers
Here are a few articles for high schoolers:

I post weekly broadcasts on all topics related to fledge in the Fledge Parent Facebook Forum. The last two weeks we’ve been talking about enabling. Join us here!
Another great resource is Brave Moms Brave Kids by Lee Nienhuis.

Prayer for You, Mom and Grandma
Lord, I ask that you will equip each mom as she releases her child to a new school year, whether it’s the first year of kindergarten, a senior year, or a last year of college. Be with her in her grief. Be with her in her joy, and her tears and she lets her little ones fly. Be with the mom whose house is empty for the first time, or who longs to be with her kids but can’t this school year for whatever reasons. Be with the grandma who prays over and worries about her grandkids in this generation, for those whose parents are not parenting well.
Your word says you’ll supply all of our needs according to your glorious riches in Christ Jesus (Phil 4:19). Please meet every child and parents need this year, Lord Jesus. Equip us to rely on you. Amen.
With Love,
Brenda
